Fast and expensive are two keywords for many men when they’re searching for a car – although not every car that made this top 10 list has those qualities. Expensive sports cars are high on the list for men, but there are several cars that are still sporty without being fast and expensive. Men also tend to favor extras, add-ons and gadgets, which all of these vehicles can accommodate.
Top Sport Cars for Men
#1 – Porsche Boxster
The Porsche Boxster is raved about by Men’s Health, the Globe and Mail and many other publications with good reason. For starters, its top speed is 166 mph! Just because this Porsche can race down the highway doesn’t mean it’s not economical at the pump. The Boxster with manual transmission nabs an impressive 27 mpg on the highway.
The Boxster also has a very impressive race car appearance and hauling capacity. Unlike some Porsche models you can also fit a few backs of luggage with a trunk in the back and another in the front offering plenty of room for taking along extras (well not plenty – but plenty for a Porsche). Plunk down around $58,500 for the most basic model or around $71,000 for the S trim version and it’s yours.
#2 – Chevrolet Camaro
The Chevy Camaro is a classic sports car for men that seems as if it will retain its rightful place for years to come. The Camaro was first introduced in the late 1960s and has been winning men’s hearts ever since. A variety of trim levels are available.
Looking for power? The V6 engine offers 300 hp while the Camaro V8 kicks up to approximately 425 hp. Also noteworthy is this man ride is the most affordable in this category with a base price of around $23,000.
#3 – Nissan 370Z
A true icon is what Edmunds calls the Nissan 370Z, while Men’s Health raves about its updates. Although this sporty car had vim and vigor to begin with, it now comes with a synchronized downshift system. Downshifts happen even quicker and more effortlessly than ever before. The Nissan 370Z also got high marks for its feasible price, which starts around $31,000.
Top Classic Cars for Men
Many men feel like they can’t go wrong with a classic car in terms of quality, longevity, and value. The greatest beauty of a classic car is its timeless style, regardless of the changes it goes through over the years. BMW and Cadillac are masters of the classic, with two beautiful cars that made this list.
#4 – BMW 5-Series
Classic, smooth and full of snazzy extras, the BMW 5-Series gets rave reviews for its roominess and performance. This BMW is packing a lot of power but still does well in the fuel economy department. Snazzy extras include gadgets like backup cameras as well as an option to use manual transmission.
Are you too cool for a minivan or station wagon? The BMW 5-Series may make a sweet fit for family guys with style. This spacious vehicle easily hauls passengers and soccer gear. Big cars like this go for pretty big bucks, though- the BMW 5-Series has a base price of around $50,000.
#5 – Cadillac CTS-V
No classic car list for men would be complete with a Cadillac on it. Men may particularly enjoy the Cadillac CTS-V for its sleek design and astounding power. The V8, 6.2 liter engine packs 556 hp! along with enhanced brakes, large wheels, stable suspension and the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in a mere four seconds or less. You can be Superman!
Top Luxury Cars for Men
Some guys just want a little luxury, and they can get it without paying luxury prices. Only one luxury auto made the top 10 list, mainly because the car offers luxury with style for all age groups. Many luxury cars are too clunky and large to be a hit, with an equally large price tag that makes them out of many price ranges. This top luxury car is affordable and even a bit on the sporty side.
#6 – Audi A3
The first thing that anyone notices about the A3 is the Audi name, which comes with a reputation for quality. The second thing is the atypical Audi price. The basic version of the auto starts at less than $30,000.
The Audi A3’s performance is reviewed to be both swift and agile with as much pep as sporty looks – all built in a lightweight frame that keeps it cruising with precision. Not only is the Audi A3 a luxury car that fits a budget, it is one that is compact enough to cruise around crowded city streets with ease.
Top Retro and Ecofriendly Cars for Men
The Chevy Camaro nearly made the retro category, but the Chevrolet updates keep ensuring the vehicle always has a modern feel. Guys who are really going for retro can find it with a Dodge. On the flipside of the equation, guys going for the latest technology can find that with Chevrolet.
#7 – Dodge Challenger
Travel back in time to the 1970s in a brand new Challenger that can get you there in true muscle car style. The Dodge Challenger is still available, and looks as good as it did back in its heyday. The styling is very similar to the original vehicle but the exterior and the power go far beyond what was initially on the market.
Today’s Dodge Challenger models easily impress with the power of the SRT8 version’s V8, 6.1 liter engine (425 hp) but realistically any trim level will make you stand up like a man. The base model of the Dodge Challenger starts around $25,000, while the SRT8 kicks off its starting price at around $46,000.
#8 – Chevy Volt
The Chevy Volt is an electric car that Men’s Health calls efficient, practical and “oh so cool.” The big deal about the Volt is its engine. It offers a gas engine that recharges the electricity so you have less of a chance of being stranded far away from a power plug. Plugging the Volt in overnight nets you up to 35 mph the next day on electric power alone. The Chevy Volt will not jolt your budget, either, with a starting price around $33,000.
Top Crossover Vehicles for Men
Crossover vehicles mix the roominess of an SUV with the sleeker lines of a car. They can be a wise choice for guys who have a lot to haul but don’t want the bulkiness of a larger vehicle. Two crossovers made the list, both powerful and attractive.
#9 – Nissan Juke
Despite its silly name, the Nissan Juke has received high ranks from many car editors. They found the car stylish and swift, accelerating to 60 mph in fewer than seven seconds. The roominess of the Nissan Juke also ranked high, something not typically found in cars that sacrifice space for style with a tapered rear end. One more plus for the Juke is its price, which starts around $19,000. Still nothing cool about the name though.
#10 – Acura ZDX
Like the Nissan Juke, the Acura ZDX is a crossover that looks sporty and still packs a punch. The ZDX was rated high for its performance, which Men’s Health says equals some sports cars for its curve handling and control. Unlike the Juke, the tapered rear of the Acura ZDX does compromise some of its roominess. You may find it a bit lacking in backseat and trunk space.
